Dancefloor Festival’s fifth edition, taking place at the Altice Forum Braga on July 26th and 27th, has guaranteed the presence of Kura, currently one of the internationally hypest DJs and producers.
Born in Leiria, it was in Cascais he took the first steps in the electronic music world. Today, he occupies the 48th place in the DJ Mag Top 100 world ranking. Despite attracting a mostly young audience, he is also contacted by other producers and those who wish to start a musical career. To him there are no barriers when it comes to learning something new, even though he doesn’t see himself as a tutor, but as someone who values and shares ideas, techniques, stories and experiences.
Kura has launched hit tracks in many world-class labels such as the Dutch DJ Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings and Spinnin Records. North-American Ultra Music is no stranger to his talent, as well as Nicky Romero’s Protocol Recordings, Armin Van Buuren ‘s Armada Music, Afrojack’s Wall Recordings, and Tiesto’s Musical Freedom. Recently he has also worked with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s Smash the House, among many others. Considering that this path is combined with his magnetism and natural talent for the art of the mix that drives all great DJs, we have the foundation of what makes a star and sets it on a strong path to a bright future.
Despite considering Axwell, Nicky Romero, Hardwell and Alesso his great musical archetypes, he was introduced to Hard dance by “Fact 2”, a mix collection by Carl Cox. During the 2000s, Kura set the dance floors to his rhythm inspired by Martin Solveigs’s French Touch, Modjo, Black Legend and the big beat of his main reference, Daft Punk.
The DJ discovered his talent in the local school radio. A declared music lover, be it alternative or commercial as long as it has energy and groove. In 2012 he became the first Portuguese represented by WDB Management, two years later he was distinguished as the Best National DJ by Radio Nova Era and launched by Trice Recordings, in what was the highest jump in his artistic career.
Kura landed on MEO Sudoeste, after which he flew straight to Amsterdam to take part in the Amsterdam Dance Event and was the first Portuguese chosen by Coca-Cola to represent the official theme “First Time, First Love” in a digital campaign. Ambush Radio, Kura’s live stream radio show, is available from his official YouTube and iTunes channels with thousands of followers. In 2016 he joined Hardwell to launch “Calavera”, a theme that reached #1 of Beatport’s sails chart.
The musician has had enviable collaborations with Laidback Luke, performed in Tomorrowland and Ultra Europe, had seven world tours and memorable performances at the RFM Somnii. Amsterdam Dance Event put him on the main stage of the world’s largest electronic music conference. In 2018, Kura participated in Hardwell On Air #350, a special episode and the first with a Portuguese guest. After sharing his knowledge in master classes in Miami and Amsterdam, he partnered with Mega Hits to debut his master class in Lisbon. Months later, Kura charmed once again with “Lambo”, a theme in which his own voice sides with the beat to set the rhythm.
Defining his path as a work in progress, KURA released through Spinnin Records the track “Nothing Else Matters”. KURA isn’t only a DJ without borders; he is also a producer that wants to reach beyond them. For this reason and all others, his presence at Dancefloor makes this an unmissable edition to which the countdown has already begun.
